ITINERARY:

BANGKOK - AYUTTHAYA - LOPBURI - PHITSANULOK (-/L/-)
DAY 1 MON / TUE Early morning pick up passengers from various Bangkok hotels, drive to Bang Pa In for a scenic boat trip to Ayutthaya. Visit Wat Panangchoen, Wat Yai Chaya Mongkol and the ancient ruins of Wat Chai Wattanaram. Continue to Lopburi, where we will take you around the city in pedaled rickshaws. After lunch at a local restaurant continue to Phitsanulok. Overnight at TOPLAND HOTEL.

PHITSANULOK - SUKHOTHAI - LAMPANG (B/L/-)
DAY 2 TUE / WED Visit Wat Maha That and its highly revered Buddha statue, Phra Buddha Jinaraj. Drive to Sukhothai, where you will visit the ancient ruins at Sukhothai Historical Park and Wat Sri Chum with it's gigantic Buddha statue. Continue to Sri Satchanalai for lunch at Gaeng Luang Restaurant. Upon arrival in Lampang we will take you on a tour of the old city on horse carriages. You will also visit Baan Sao Nak, a 100-year old teak-wood mansion, and Wat Don Tao. Overnight at LAMPANG RIVER LODGE.

LAMPANG - PHAYAO - CHIANG RAI (B/L/-)
DAY 3 WED / THU Drive to Phayao with the biggest natural lake in Thailand. Proceed to Chiang Rai for lunch. In The afternoon, continue to Chiang Saen and take a boat ride on the Mekong River towards the Golden Triangle, where the borders of Thailand, Myanmar and Laos converge. Continue to Mae Sai, the northern most city bordering Myanmar. Overnight at RIMKOK RESORT in Chiang Rai.

CHIANG RAI - CHIANG MAI (B/L/-)
DAY 4 THU / FRI Early morning depart for Chiang Mai and visit the local handicraft centers around Chiang Mai. Lunch at a local restaurant. In the afternoon visit Wat Doi Suthep, a famous landmark of the city, tucked away in the mountains at an elevation of 1,056 meters. The temple is reached by climbing 290 steps, flanked by a NAGA balustrade on both sides.
Optional evening program: Enjoy a typical Kantoke dinner with a presentation of traditional dances from Northern Thailand. Price per person: 450 Baht inclusive transfers.
Overnight at THE EMPRESS CHIANG MAI or similar.

CHIANG MAI - BANGKOK BY TRAIN (B/L/-)
DAY 5 FRI / SAT Visit the Mae Saa Elephant camp and watch the skilled elephants at work. Optional: 1-hour elephant ride. Price per person: 800 Baht.
Continue to visit an orchid farm. After lunch at a local restaurant, free time until transfer to Chiang Mai Railway Station. Depart by second-class air-conditioned train with sleeping berth (Couchette). Overnight ON THE TRAIN.

BANGKOK (-/-/-)
DAY 6 SAT / SUN Arrive at Bangkok Railway Station and transfer to hotel in Bangkok (breakfast and accommodation in Bangkok not included in tour price. Transfer to Suvarnabhumi aiport is not included and will be charged for separately).
Reduction if not returning to Bangkok by train: 880 Baht per person
Surcharge for domestic airfare Chiang Mai - Bangkok: 2,875 Baht per person (subject to change without prior notice). Transfers from Suvarnabhumi airport to Bangkok city or other destinations are not included in tour price and will be charged for separately!

Our tour prices are inclusive of transfers and tours by air-conditioned car/minibus/coach with German-speaking guide on Monday departures or English-speaking guide on Tuesday departures, baggage handling, entrance fees, meals as specified in the program (half board), accommodation in air-conditioned rooms with private bathroom, 2nd class sleeper berth train-ticket from Chiang Mai to Bangkok, service charges and VAT.

Not included are other meals than mentioned in the program, surcharges for compulsory gala dinners, optional tours, expenditures of a personal nature (drinks, phone calls, mini bar consumptions, laundry etc.). If returning to Bangkok by flight, domestic air-tickets will be issued by Tropic Asia Tours and charged for separately. Note, that transfers from Suvarnabhumi airport are not included in package price and will be charged for separately. Likewise, if guests return to Bangkok by train and require a transfer from the railway station to Suvarnabhumi airport or destinations other than Bangkok city hotels, these transfers will be charged for separately!

NOTE:
Small deviations in the tour program are sometimes necessary, depending on road conditions and availability of rooms.
Return to Bangkok by flight: You may deduct the amount of Baht 880.- net per person, whenever clients do not require the train ticket from Chiang Mai to Bangkok. However, the refund can only be applied if we are informed at the time of booking that client(s) will not require train tickets from Chiang Mai to Bangkok. Please note, that transfers from Bangkok Domestic airport are not included and need to be booked and paid for separately, if clients return by flight to Bangkok.
